General Questions
How much does flooring installation cost?
Installation costs vary depending on the material you choose (Hardwood, LVP, Laminate) and the current condition of your subfloor. Because every home is different, we provide a free, itemized estimate after measuring your space. This is so we can give you a transparent price with no hidden fees.
How long does a typical installation take?
It depends on the size of the project, but a standard 500-1,000 sq. ft. living area typically takes 3-5 days. This timeline includes demolition, subfloor preparation, installation, and final trim work. We will provide a specific timeline for your project during your consultation.

What is the difference between LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) and Laminate?
Both are durable and affordable, but the main difference is water resistance.
- LVP is made of vinyl and is 100% waterproof, making it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and mudrooms where snow might track in.
- Laminate usually has a wood-byproduct core. While it is highly scratch-resistant and realistic, it is generally not waterproof (though water-resistant options exist).

Installation & Our Process
Do I need to buy the flooring myself, or do you supply it?
We can do both! We work with preferred local vendors and can handle the ordering and delivery of high-quality materials for you. However, if you have already purchased your own flooring, we are happy to provide the installation labor.
How much dust will there be?
Flooring demolition (especially removing tile or hardwood) can create dust. However, we take great care to minimize the mess. We hang plastic sheeting and use specialized dust containment methods when necessary. We also vacuum thoroughly at the end of each workday to keep your home livable.
What if my subfloor is uneven or damaged?
This is very common in both new and older homes. We always include a basic floor prep price with every installation. However, if anything unusual or severe is found once the demo is done, we will discuss it with you and try to find a cost effective solution to level out your subfloor. Proper floor preparation is essential to the longevity of your floors, and we take every step necessary to ensure they last for years to come.

Does Easton Flooring move my furniture?
Yes! We offer full-service installation. We can carefully move your large furniture (couches, tables, beds) out of the room and replace it once the floors are done. We just ask that you remove small breakables, electronics, and clear off bookshelves before we arrive.
Do you rip out and dispose of my old carpet or tile?
Yes. We handle the full demolition and disposal of your old flooring. We haul everything away so you aren't left with a pile of debris in your driveway.
Do you service areas outside of Bend?
Yes, we are proud to serve all of Central Oregon, including Redmond, Sunriver, Sisters, Tumalo, and La Pine.
After Care & Warranty
Do you offer a warranty on your installation?
Yes, Easton Flooring LLC stands behind our craftsmanship. We offer a 1 year warranty on all our installation labor, covering any issues related to workmanship. The flooring material itself will also come with a separate manufacturer’s warranty.
How soon can I walk on my new floors?
- LVP & Laminate: Immediately! These are "floating" floors that require no drying time.
- Glue-Down Hardwood: We typically recommend waiting 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure before walking on it or moving heavy furniture back.
How do I clean my new floors?
To keep your warranty valid and your floors looking new, avoid steam mops (especially on LVP, Laminate or Hardwood) and harsh chemicals like bleach. We recommend a pH-neutral cleaner specifically designed for your flooring type, along with a microfiber mop.

Living in Bend & Climate Questions
What is the best flooring for Bend’s dry, high-desert climate?
Because Central Oregon sees humidity levels drop as low as 20%, Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Engineered Hardwood are the most stable choices.
- LVP is waterproof and does not expand or contract with humidity changes.
- Engineered Hardwood offers the beauty of real wood but is built with a plywood core that resists the shrinking and gapping often seen in solid wood floors here.
What is the most dog-friendly flooring for active dogs?
If you have dogs that hike, run in the snow, or bring in volcanic dust, we highly recommend Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) with a thick wear layer (20mil or higher). It is scratch-resistant, 100% waterproof (great for melting snow), and easy to clean.

Do I really need to acclimate my flooring before installation?
Yes, absolutely. In Bend’s dry climate, letting your flooring adjust to your home before installation is very important. Laminate flooring usually needs about 48 hours to acclimate. Solid and engineered wood flooring often needs anywhere from one week to a month or more, depending on how much moisture is in the wood when it arrives.
The goal is to allow the flooring to reach a moisture level that’s within about 2% of your home’s subfloor. This helps prevent problems later on, like warping, gaps, or buckling after the floor is installed.
Which flooring works best with radiant heating systems?
Many homes in Bend (especially in Northwest Crossing and Tetherow) rely on radiant heat. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), Tile, and Engineered Hardwood are excellent conductors of heat and are generally safe for these systems. We always follow the manufacturer's temperature guidelines to ensure safety.
How do I protect my floors from Bend’s volcanic dust and grit?
The local "red cinder" dust acts like sandpaper on floors. We recommend placing walk-off mats at every exterior door to catch grit. For the flooring itself, a wire-brushed or textured finish helps hide micro-scratches better than smooth, high-gloss finishes.
I own a vacation rental in Sunriver/Black Butte. What flooring lasts longest?
For high-traffic rentals, durability is key. We recommend Commercial-Grade LVP or Laminate. These materials withstand ski boots, wet gear, and heavy foot traffic better than wood. If a plank gets damaged, it is also much easier to repair than refinishing an entire hardwood floor.
Can I install solid hardwood flooring in Bend?
You can, but it requires strict environmental control. To prevent solid wood from drying out and cracking in our high desert climate, you must maintain your home’s humidity between 30-50% year-round (usually requiring a whole-home humidifier). For most homeowners who want the "wood look" without the maintenance, we recommend Engineered Hardwood.
